The first “12 projects” project is complete!

smrt.shopping is an auto-sorting shopping list app. It accepts comma separate lists of grocery items, and automatically categorizes them using regex. The idea is, that when you walk around a supermarket, having an unordered list slows you down. You pick up milk, then you go to get bread, then you have to come back to the dairy aisle for the cheese.

For a long time I would make a list on paper, and then rewrite it on another piece, to put things in the right order. So why not have technology solve that problem?

There are a lot of things I’d like to add to this, but for now, it works as well as I could hope. It doesn’t catch every item, and there are occasionally some false positives and mis-categorizations, but for the most part it has saved me time.
